Biography
Edit
Gant worked as a maintenance man and was a witness to the shooting of Pooh Blanchard by D'Angelo Barksdale. He came forward and identified D'Angelo in court at the trial. Gant was nervous because members of the Barksdale organization attended the trial to intimidate him. D'Angelo was acquitted when another witness, Nakeesha Lyles, changed her story.
Gant was murdered by Barksdale enforcer Marquis "Bird" Hilton on his way to work several days later.[1] His corpse is seen at the Medical Examiner's Office.[2]
Bird was later arrested for the murder and ballistics matched his gun to a bullet recovered at the scene. Bird was sentenced to life without parole for the murder in season 2. Wee Bey admitted to killing Gant during an interrogation with Bunk in exchange for another pit beef sandwich and some tater salad. Gant's shooting is brought up by his cousin at a community meeting in season 3 as a reason why people are not willing to co-operate with the police.
